On March 3, the China Association for Promoting Non-Governmental Science and Technology organized an appraisal in Yancheng for the groundbreaking "3,500-meter ultra-deepwater subsea production system ball valve" —a new product independently developed by Jiangsu Yandian Valves Co., Ltd. (YDF VALVES) and Shanghai Ocean University . This prototype fills a critical domestic technological gap and achieves international advanced standards, marking a historic milestone in China’s deep-sea equipment manufacturing and providing robust technical support for the development of marine resources.
During the appraisal, a panel of authoritative domestic experts conducted a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation of the ball valve prototype. They reviewed its design philosophy, manufacturing processes, and operational performance, examined detailed technical documentation and test data, and observed live demonstrations of its functionality.

Overcoming Challenges Through Innovation
Faced with foreign technological barriers and monopolies, the R&D team from
YDF VALVES and Shanghai Ocean University leveraged their independent innovation
capabilities and relentless perseverance to break through technical
bottlenecks. Through close collaboration, countless trials, and iterative
refinements, they transformed the project from concept to reality, achieving a
leap from imitation to global leadership.
Strategic Significance
This achievement not only demonstrates years of dedication to technological
innovation in deep-sea equipment but also reflects the rapid growth of China’s
marine engineering industry. It holds strategic importance for enhancing
China’s deep-sea resource exploration capabilities and safeguarding national
energy security.
Next Steps
Building on this milestone, YDF VALVES plans to:
Intensify R&D investments to further improve product performance and expand application scenarios.
Strengthen partnerships with global research institutions and industry leaders to drive high-quality development in deep-sea equipment.
Contribute expertise to support China’s transformation from a maritime powerhouse to a global leader in ocean technology.
This breakthrough underscores China’s rising prowess in critical marine technologies and sets the stage for future innovations in the blue economy.
